✨ Welcome back to DM Training! January is the month of resolutions, but let’s be honest: how often do those well-intentioned plans fall apart by week two? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. The problem often isn’t your motivation; it’s how we set our goals. That’s why today, we’re sharing a follow-up to our previous tips on setting realistic goals you’ll actually stick to. And yes, we’ll keep it light—because a little humor makes everything easier, right? 😉
Missed the first 7 tips? No problem! Let’s dive into even more insights to make your goals achievable and inspiring.

1. Big dreams, small steps
Or as we like to say: "Big dreams = small, doable steps." 📚 A goal often feels overwhelming because it’s too big. Want to eat healthier? Don’t start with a complete kitchen detox; just add one extra serving of vegetables to your day. Want to get fitter? Begin with a five-minute walk. Small actions build momentum, and before you know it, you’ve gone miles. Literally. 🏃♀️
2. Focus on one goal at a time
🌈 We get it: you want to tackle everything at once. But just like you can’t juggle all the plates in the air (unless you’re a circus performer), this doesn’t work for your goals either. Choose one goal to focus on. Once you’ve mastered it, add a new one. Less stress, more progress. 🚀
3. Know your WHY
🔍 Your “why” is the fuel for your motivation. Do you want to move more because you want to feel stronger? Because you want more energy? Or maybe because your dog demands more walks? When you connect your goal to something that truly matters to you, it’s easier to stick with it, even when the couch and Netflix seem more tempting. 🎥

4. Track your progress visually
📋 There’s something magical about checking things off a list (let’s be honest, sometimes we write things down just to check them off). Use a habit tracker, a notebook, or an app to track your progress. Seeing your progress motivates you to keep going, and it gives you a boost on those tougher days. ✔️
5. Be flexible with your plans
🛏 Life happens. Sometimes things come up that derail your plans. And that’s okay! Realistic goals are flexible. Adjust your plan if needed, without guilt. Skipping one day doesn’t mean you’ve failed—it just means you’re human. (Try writing that in your planner: "Today: be human.") 🤣
6. Find an accountability buddy
🧩 Sharing a goal with a friend, colleague, or even your DM Training community can be a game-changer. When someone else knows what you’re trying to achieve, you feel more motivated to stick with it. Plus, they can cheer you on (or give you a friendly nudge) when you’re stuck. 👬
7. Visualize your success
🖋 Imagine how it feels to achieve your goal. Feel that pride, that energy, that moment when you think: "I did it!" This simple mental exercise helps you stay motivated, especially on days when your goal feels far away. Bonus: visualization is free, and you can do it anywhere—even in the supermarket checkout line. 🍒
Why realistic goals work
🌟 Realistic goals keep you motivated because they’re achievable. You avoid the disappointment of unrealistic expectations and instead build positive experiences. Every small win boosts your confidence and encourages you to keep going. And that’s exactly how small steps turn into big changes. 🏆
Let’s get started!
🔥 We hope these tips inspire you to tackle your goals with fresh energy. Remember: it’s okay to start small, stay flexible, and most importantly, be kind to yourself. You’re doing amazing.
